Improv for People of Color (7 week series)

  • SAFEhouse for the Performing Arts 145 Eddy Street San Francisco, CA, 94102 United States (map)

Attendance

Classes are Thursdays, 7 - 9:30 pm, from August 8 to September 19.

Because improv is built on trust and community, we ask those who enroll to commit to attending 5 or more of the 7 classes.

Payment & Slide Scale

In an effort to increase access to this class, we have a sliding scale for payment, and scholarships up to the full cost are available. If the listed scholarship options don't fit your circumstances, please email us.

For those with the available means, we ask that you pay the standard rate ($245) or consider making a donation so we can strengthen our community of POC improvisers.

Class Format & Themes

We use activities to connect improv to everyday life. Through games, activities, and scene work, participants can embrace failure, get more comfortable being themselves, and connect with others--with a lot of laughter! Expect a mix of individual, partner, and group activities.

See a sample class agenda and themes.

Physical access

Some activities may be very physical and/or done standing while others will be done sitting. We know bodies move in different ways, and we're happy to adapt our activities to what your body is up for.

We're renting space at SAFEhouse for the Performing Arts. The entrance, studio, and one restroom are flat, ground-level and ADA accessible. There is an additional restroom up a small set of stairs with a side rail.

Chairs are provided for seating (folding metal or plastic - no arms).
